    FreedomPop Fiasco

Is customer service even a thing anymore?? I was looking for a hotspot for the office given that the WiFi is awful on my side of the building. Here was my exchange with the many reps I heard from: I placed the order on 5/16/19 – got my instructions, a dashboard with a checklist for my upcoming wifi device and plan. 2. I reached out on 6/5/19 3. I didn’t hear anything. 4. On June 15 (about a month after I had ordered the device), I got an automated message request to provide feedback as to how I’m liking the device and service, neither of which I’ve received. 5. On…

    Maggie R.I.P.

Maggie Gardner 1999? – 6/5/2017 My Mom wrote this sweet book about my parents’ dog that we lost recently and that we all really loved. I called her Maggalini which seemed to suit her well. She was so sweet. Please check out the book below:

The Golden State Warriors are Golden!

The Golden State Warriors, who had been awful pretty much my entire life – minus the Chris Mullen, Timmy Hardaway, Mitch Richmond era – are breaking records right and left. Having won a championship last year, they open the start of this season with a 16-0 record – the best start to a season EVER in NBA history! Facts. They are so fun to watch and remind me a bit of the Celtics of a few years ago, when the team just gelled (Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce under Doc Rivers). My allegiance to the Boston Celtics followed the downturn of that group’s disbanding. Luckily, the home…

Tinkering Around with a New Website

Why did I create this website? Good question – mainly it is to play around with WordPress as a creative outlet. I’m not sure who will read any of this – nor do I particularly care. Content may be a challenge since I put most things on Pinterest and Facebook, but we’ll see. Experiment underway…

    More From Syl

In continuing the grandmother theme, I am typing out one more of her letters. This one came a month before the previous one – September 19, 1993. When I was 3 years old in pre-school, I told my father that a boy a had bitten me. My father emphatically said, “Well, bite him back!” Now I see where that emotional maturity came from. 😉 Gotta love her! Dearest Laura, Ain’t it hell growing up? We’ve been following the saga of the two-against-one for the past week, and are happy to learn that you’re moving out to a one-on-one situation. Three girls in one room is a recipe for trouble. We’re…

Words of Wisdom from My Late Grandmother

My paternal grandmother, Sylvia Gardner, was a firecracker – my father tells me a story of when he was young and the family went to Washington D.C. for a vacation. It was my dad and grandmother who ran up the steps to the top of the Washington monument, while my grandfather and aunt waited for them at the bottom. My grandmother was tough and loving at the same time. She was progressive for her time, as she got a college degree from Brooklyn College, was the captain of her college fencing team (pre-Title 9), and in her older years, she swam for exercise nearly every day (30 laps). She passed…

Sunday Farmers Market at Oakland’s Claremont DMV

On September 5, 2010, I took my camera out of isolation and to the farmers’s market in Oakland. I go nearly every week to get fresh fruits and veggies, to people watch, and to catch up with friends. Here is my first attempt to get back into photography and capture one of my favorite places. I haven’t found the greatest slideshow plugin, so please bear with me.

    New Year’s Resolution: Yoga Challenge

My 2010 New Year’s resolution was to practice yoga 5-7 times a week for the month of January. I have been practicing yoga for ten or so years, and there was a time in my life where I was practicing about 5 times a week. Then through three years of graduate school, and three years of 3+ jobs at a time, my practice waned to two times, sometimes even once, a week. I wanted to amp it up, so that by the time February came, 5 weekly practices would seem do-able. To keep track of my progress, I kept a log on Facebook. Although I fell short of the 5-7…
